Mel Brooks: Live at the Geffen will take place at 8 PM in the Gil Cates Theatre. Brooks, the Tony and Academy Award-winning writer of The Producers, Young Frankenstein, "Blazing Saddles" and more, will perform the evening for one night only.
"What Mel wanted to do was to have a platform to tell some of these great stories that he has in an intimate fashion," producer Kevin Salter told the Los Angeles Times.
Mel Brooks: Live at the Geffen marks the award winner's first solo show. The L.A. Times reports that Brooks was inspired to perform the solo evening after seeing Bette Midler in I'll Eat You Last: A Chat With Sue Mengers, which played the Geffen in December 2013 following a Broadway run last spring.
Here's how it's billed: "An introspective retrospective of Mel Brooks’ life and career, this is Brooks’ first one-man stage production. Director, producer, writer and actor, Brooks is in an elite group as one of the few entertainers to earn all four major entertainment prizes – the Tony, Emmy, Grammy, and Oscar."
