Miscast, the annual MCC Theater benefit that provides participants with a stage to take on roles they would not traditionally be cast in, has announced the honorees for the 2023 iteration.
Taking place April 3, 2023, at the Hammerstein Ballroom, Miscast23 will honor Tony, Emmy, and Grammy nominee Vanessa Williams, as well as MCC Youth Company alumna Lianny Toval.
Said Bernie Telsey, co-artistic director of MCC: "Vanessa’s career, on stage and screen, in music, and even behind the scenes, is distinguished by a boldness that is undeniable and, frankly, thrilling. We celebrate ambitious and daring risk takers at MCC Theater and we’re really excited to celebrate Vanessa Williams at Miscast23 along with MCC Youth Company Alumna Lianny Toval, whose accomplishments already have us eager to see where her own path takes her."
Funds raised from the annual event support MCC Theater's producing efforts Off-Broadway, as well as its Youth Company and in-school partnerships that serve New York City public high school students, and MCC’s literary development work with emerging playwrights.
Casting and further details about the 2023 Miscast gala will be announced at a later date.
