NY-1 correspondent Patrick Pacheco will chat with Dayan, who will be on hand to discuss the themes central to Masked, which focuses on the cultural divide at the heart of the Middle East conflict.
In addition, Pacheco and Dayan will explore the topics featured in Urgent Conversations, a talk back series that takes place three times a week following performances of Masked. Community leaders, religious leaders, influential writers, journalists, experts in conflict resolution, activists and members of the creative team take part in the various evenings.
Written by Israeli-born playwright Ilan Hatsor, Masked depicts the tragedy of one family torn between obligations, kinship, principles and survival. It is the first play by an Israeli playwright about the Intifada (Palestinian uprising).
Masked opened Off-Broadway at the DR2 Theatre on Aug 2. Sanjit DeSilva, Daoud Heidami and Arian Moayed complete the cast of the production.
Translated by Michael Taub, Masked features a creative team including scenic designers Wilson Chin and Aleksandra Maslik, costume designer Jennifer Caprio and lighting designer Thom Weave. The half-hour NY1 theatre show airs this weekend starting Aug. 11 at 9:30 AM (ET). Check local listings for subsequent airings.
