Curve Artistic Director Nikolai Foster (Billy Elliot the Musical, The Wizard of Oz) is directing the Tony-winning musical, which also features set design by Michael Taylor, musical supervision by Stephen Brooker, musical direction by Ben van Tienen, and choreography by Adam Murray.
The production also has costume design by Edd Lindley, lighting
design by Joshie Hariette, sound design by Adam Fisher, and wigs, hair
and make-up design by Sam Cox. Casting is by Curve Associate Artist Kay Magson
and Olivia Laydon.
Curve Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Foster said in an earlier statement, “This production is dedicated to our Curve Associate Artist and Casting Director of Evita, Kay Magson, who recently passed away. Kay worked on the casting of most of our Made at Curve productions over the past decade, delivering astonishing artists to our stages and often helping young actors make their stage debuts. Kay wasn’t able to complete casting on Evita, but secured Martha and Tyrone and laid the groundwork for the fantastic casting director Olivia Laydon to join us."
Evita, which premiered as a two-LP recording starring Julie Covington (Eva) and Colm Wilkinson (Che), features a score by Lloyd Webber (music) and Rice (lyrics). Hal Prince staged both the original London and New York productions of the musical, which made stars of Elaine Paige (in London) and Mandy Patinkin and Patti LuPone (on Broadway). The score features such tunes as "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," "Buenos Aires," "A New Argentina," "Another Suitcase in Another Hall," "I'd Be Surprisingly Good for You," and "Rainbow High." Madonna, Antonio Banderas, and Jonathan Pryce starred in the film version; Elena Roger headed the cast of the London and Broadway revivals, the latter with Ricky Martin.
