News Mark Ruffalo, Stanley Tucci, Brian d'Arcy James, Liev Schreiber, Billy Crudup and More Win Special Gotham Award The 25th Anniversary Independent Filmmaker Project (IFP) Gotham Awards were presented Nov. 30 in Manhattan. The new film "Spotlight," about the Boston Globe's role in uncovering the child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, was named Best Feature. The film boasts a cast of Broadway veterans.

The motion picture also picked up the award for Best Screenplay (Tom McCarthy and Josh Singer) as well as the Special Jury Award for Ensemble Performance (Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, John Slattery, Stanley Tucci, Brian d'Arcy James, Liev Schreiber and Billy Crudup).

The Gotham Independent Film Awards by IFP, selected by juries and presented in New York City, the home of independent film, are the first honors of the film awards season. This public showcase "honors the filmmaking community, expands the audience for independent films, and supports the work that IFP does behind the scenes throughout the year to bring such films to fruition."
