Manhattan Theatre Club has named Nicki Hunter its new associate artistic director.

The promotion is the latest in a long tenure with the company. Hunter first came to MTC in 2009 as an intern, eventually becoming artistic producer in 2019. Among her achievements and responsibilities have been leading the Directing Fellowship partnership with the Drama League, launching the Beyond the Stage program, and working with the artistic development team to produce a myriad of developmental readings and workshops. In her new role, Hunter will work with Artistic Director Lynne Meadow creating and implementing artistic repertoire and policy, along with working closely with artists on MTC stages on Broadway and off.

"Working with Nicki for the last 14 years has been a joy for me," says Meadow in a statement. "I have valued her counsel and contributions. Her work with our entire staff and our many artists has been dynamic and exemplary."

"I’m excited and honored to be stepping into this new leadership role at MTC," adds Hunter. "Working with both the incredible artists and staff at this vibrant organization inspires, challenges, and motivates me on a daily basis. I’m thrilled to be able to continue my work at MTC in this new role."
