Madeline Sayet's Where We Belong begins at Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival August 13, where it is set to continue through August 22. Co-presented with Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company and in association with Folger Shakespeare Library, the solo play, also starring Sayet, is directed by Mei Ann Teo.
The intimate piece follows Sayet’s journey of self-discovery and traces the intertwined relationship between Shakespeare and colonialism, a relationship with deep roots along the banks of the Muhheakantuck, the tidal estuary colonially known as the Hudson River. Emily Preis is the production's standby.
The show features production design by Hao Bai, costume design by Asa Benally, original composition and sound design by Erik Schilke, dramaturgy by Vera Starbard, dialect coaching by Liz Hayes, and casting by Judy Bowman. Elisabeth Schapmann is stage manager, and Jen Olivares is movement consultant.
