Off-Broadway News Maddie Corman, Kerry Bishé, Natalie Woolams-Torres, More to Star in World Premiere of The Fears

The play will mark the producing debut of Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh.

Off-Broadway's The Fears has announced the company for its Off-Broadway world premiere, beginning previews at Signature Theatre Center's The Irene Diamond Stage April 25 prior to an official opening May 18. Written by Emma Sheanshang and produced by Oscar- and Emmy-winning director Steven Soderbergh, the play will be directed by Dan Algrant and is guided by five-time Tony-winning executive producer John N. Hart, Jr.

Starring will be Maddie Corman (Accidentally Brave, Some Kind of Wonderful, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood) as Maia, Kerry Bishé (Argo) as Thea, and Natalie Woolams-Torres (Tiny Beautiful Things) as Rosa. They will be joined by Jess Gabor (The MachineShameless) as Katie, Mehran Khaghani (High Maintenance”) as Fiz, Carl Hendrick Louis (1984) as Mark, and Robyn Peterson (Talk Radio, Pretty Woman) as Suzanne.

Set in a New York City Buddhist Center, a diverse group of people come together in an attempt to heal their personal turmoil. When a new member disrupts the status quo, heated confrontations and deep meditations unfold.

The creative team will include set designer Jo Winiarski (HYPROV, Accidentally Brave), costume designer David C. Robinson (The Equalizer, The Perks of Being a Wallflower), Tony-winning lighting designer Jeff Croiter (Peter and the Starcatcher, Cost of Living), and sound designer Jane Shaw (I Was Most Alive With You, Men on Boats).

The production stage manager will be Thom Gates. Casting is by Avy Kaufman and Daniel Frankel of Avy Kaufman Casting. Production management will be by Sightline Productions. General management will be by DR Theatrical Management.
