Luker's first solo album in five years will be released in stores on Oct. 20. The album's music director, Joseph Thalken, orchestrated the majority of the tracks; the album is produced by PS Classics co-founder Tommy Krasker.
Broadway star Luker (The Secret Garden, Show Boat, The Sound of Music, The Music Man, Nine: The Musical and, currently, Mary Poppins) "gives voice to the work of bold new songwriters while honoring a generation of musical theatre giants — including Jule Styne, John Kander and Maury Yeston — with some of their most deeply personal dramatic ballads," according to PS Classics.
Luker told Playbill.com, "This is a recording I'd been waiting nearly a decade to make. Over the years, I've slowly collected these songs and kept them close to my heart, hoping the time would come eventually to record them, without compromise. These songs are not only classics by some of Broadway's best, but many are also little-known treasures by a new generation of brilliant songwriters. From my incomparable producer Tommy Krasker to our excellent engineer Bart Migal to the best musicians in New York City, I can honestly say that we all felt we were recording something special and unique. 'Greenwich Time' was the kind of rare experience that doesn't come along very often."
