International News Lovestuck Musical From Creators of My Dad Wrote a Porno Podcast Will Have World Premiere

James Cooper, Jamie Morton, Bryn Christopher, and Martin Batchelar have written the work, about the worst date ever.

London's Stratford East has revealed its upcoming 140th anniversary season, which includes a world premiere for the new musical Lovestuck, from the creators of the My Dad Wrote a Porno podcast.

The show, running June 6-July 12, 2025, is conceived and written by James Cooper, and Cooper's My Dad Wrote a Porno co-host Jamie Morton will direct the premiere. The project also features music by Bryn Christopher and Martin Batchelar, and lyrics by Christopher and Cooper. Opening night will be June 17, 2025.

The work follows 30-somethings Lucy and Peter on their first date, opening with Lucy stuck in Peter's bathroom window upside-down. From there, the show reveals how the two lovers found themselves in that situation, all while tackling online dating, toxic social media, and more.

The London theatre will also present the U.K. premiere of Suzan-Lori Parks' musical The Harder They Come, which made its world premiere Off-Broadway at The Public in 2023. Parks adapted the musical from the classic Jamaican film, working from producer-director Perry Henzell and Trevor Rhone's screenplay. Songs, which also include gospel and folk music, are by Jimmy Cliff (plus some original new songs from Parks). The story centers on Ivan, a singer who comes to Kingston, Jamaica, in search of stardom. After falling in love and cutting a record deal, Ivan learns the dark side of the music industry and enters a battle that threatens both his life and the fabric of Jamaican society. Matthew Xia will direct the U.K. production, running September 13-October 25, 2025. Opening night will be September 23.

Also in the company's season are a new adaptation (by Tatty Hennessy) of Animal Farm, running February 7-March 8, 2025; an encore run of Dave HarrisTambo & Bones, April 29-May 10, 2025; and a Kwame Owusu-penned adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, co-directed by Emily Ling Williams and Malik Nashad Sharpe and running August 7-9, 2025.
