The Young Vic’s world premiere of Anthony McCarten’s The Collaboration, starring Paul Bettany (The Avengers, WandaVision) as Andy Warhol and two-time Tony nominee Jeremy Pope (Hollywood, Choir Boy, Ain’t Too Proud) as Jean-Michel Basquiat, will play the London venue February 16-April 2. The two are joined by Sofia Barclay and Alec Newman.

Directed by Young Vic Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah, The Collaboration is set in 1984 New York, where 56-year-old Andy Warhol’s star is falling and Jean-Michel Basquiat is taking the art world by storm. When Basquiat agrees to collaborate with Warhol on a new exhibition, the two artists embark on a shared journey that re-draws both their worlds.
The production will have set and costume design by Anna Fleischle, lighting design by Mark Henderson, sound design by Emma Laxton, projection design by Duncan McLean, composition by Ayanna Witter-Johnson, DJ/VJ by Xana, and assistant direction and production dramaturgy by Olivia Nwabali. Casting for the production is by Isabella Odoffin.
