Producers of the forthcoming Harry Potter stage play in London have petitioned the Westminster City Council for permission to redecorate the facade of the Palace Theatre to suggest the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, according to The Stage.

The mythical school, where Potter and his friends are trained in magic, is where much of the seven-book Potter saga takes place. The play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, continues the story. Performances are scheduled to begin June 7 at the Palace.

Until now, the show has been limited to street-level promotion. Producers are seeking to add four-colored banners that represent the four “houses” of Hogwarts: red for Gryffindor, yellow for Hufflepuff, blue for Ravenclaw and green for Slytherin.

The application from Michael Jackson Consulting, which represents the producers, reportedly explains, “The impending production of Harry Potter has been eagerly anticipated by the public, with high levels of interest for tickets shown. As this production is likely to run for more than two years, the producers wish to install the high-level banners with the house colours from the show to the facade of the building.”

Because local zoning authorities are very hesitant to allow changes to the facades of landmark buildings in the British capital, the application promises, "when the show ends its run, the banners would be removed and the screw holes would be made good to match the existing brickwork.”
