Having It Almost is a five-character book musical about five women, strangers, all in their 40s, who get marooned at JFK International Airport during a blackout. It tells the story of how these strangers open up to each other, learn from each other, and ultimately change one another’s destinations for the better. The show deals with contemporary issues faced by women in their 40s of infidelity, infertility, career vs. family, being single by choice, being single not-by-choice, and the myths of motherhood, in fresh, funny and moving ways.
The cast includes Liz Larsen (Tony nominee, The Most Happy Fella), Paige Price (Saturday Night Fever), Sally Wilfert (Adventures of Tom Sawyer, King David), and Wendy Perelman, the show’s conceiver/co-bookwriter.
The musical score is by David Goldsmith (co-book, lyrics), John Kavanaugh (music), with three additional songs Jeff Blumenkrantz (Urban Cowboy), Annie Kessler & Libby Saines and Stephen Schwartz (Wicked). The director/choreographer will be Casey Hushion (Meet John Doe, Monica! The Musical). Musical direction will be by Steve Marzullo (Once on This Island, Mamma Mia).
