Wilkof, who will direct the film, recently told Playbill.com, "'No Pay, Nudity' is about a middle aged actor (played by Ted Levine) who has lost his way, and how he relies on his friends, who he hangs out with in the Equity Lounge (Nathan Lane, Laurie Metcalf and Boyd Gaines). He finds his way back to what he loves when he returns to his hometown in Dayton, Ohio, to play the fool in King Lear, and connects with an old girlfriend (Jessica Hecht)."
Ethan Sandler wrote the screenplay based on a concept by Wilkof. The starry cast also includes J. Smith Cameron, Mark Blum, Austin Pendleton and Brent Spiner. Filming is expected to begin in March if the necessary funds are raised.
"We plan to shoot all but a few scenes entirely on location here in NYC, with a couple scenes shot in New Jersey substituting for Ohio," said Wilkof.
The Kickstarter campaign launched Sept. 9, raising $18,946 in its first day.
