Lisa Lampanelli Has an Off-Broadway Show, But She's Ready to Go Into Hamilton, Hello, Dolly!, and More
At a recent press event for the upcoming return of Stuffed, the comedian showed off her musical theatre chops for Playbill.
Lisa Lampanelli's play Stuffed returns to the Off-Broadway stage this fall, and while she's excited to return to the theatre scene, she has her eyes on the bright lights of Broadway.
At a recent press event, the comedian—and vocal fan of musical theatre—gave Playbill a taste of the myriad roles she's ready and willing to take on, including Hello, Dolly!'s Dolly Gallagher Levi, Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Aaron Burr in Hamilton, and even a role her new co-star Nikki Blonsky is known for: Hairspray's Tracy Turnblad.

If a star turn singing and dancing on Broadway doesn't work out, Lampanelli has an alternate plan that would still allow her to insert herself into a musical. “I have this great idea to have a show on TV Land at some point, where I'm in an old age home—and this is a reality show—me, all these old women, doing every part we couldn't do when we were in our youth,” she said. “So I really want to play Tracy Turnblad in Hairspray at age 86. I don't give a crap if I can dance; I don't care if I can sing; I'm doing that effing play.”
