Emmy-winning actor Lin Shaye brings her solo show Tripping on Life to New York City September 8. Robert Galinsky directs the work exploring womanhood during the transformative 1960's. Tripping on Life will play Theatre Row until October 8, with an official opening night set for September 18.
Known for her roles in films like Insidious and A Nightmare on Elm Street, Shaye is a decorated actor and pioneer of the horror film genre. Following decades in the business, Shaye aims to mesmerize audiences with her portrayal of a woman's life forever changed by a tumultuous event in 1968.
"As an actress and writer, this new chapter allows me to step into the spotlight of my own creation. My goal is to take the audience ‘on a trip’ into the heart of the hippie world of love and hope that we all longed for then and still long for today. Over the past few years, we have all gone through a traumatic experience. I hope that by opening up and telling this story now, it will resonate with each person, reminding them of the strength that lies within us all," said Shaye in an earlier statement.
Tripping on Life also features sound design by Lee Landey and light art consultation by Joshua White.
Joel Andrew Cote serves as stage manager, and Theatrics Park provides general management. The production is executive produced by New Line Cinema Founder and former CEO Robert Shaye and produced by Gina Rugolo Judd.
