The cast of the '90s teen drama series Dawson's Creek are reuniting for a one-night-only event September 22 at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theater. The 7 PM event will include a reading of the series' pilot episode, from the original cast, to benefit F Cancer and James Van Der Beek—who played the show's title character and was diagnosed with stage three colorectal cancer last year.

The event will see the series cast members Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, Joshua Jackson, Mary Beth Peil, John Wesley Shipp, Mary-Margaret Humes, Nina Repeta, Kerr Smith, Meredith Monroe, and Busy Phillips on the stage together. Van Der Beek is directing the event, but he will not be in attendance, he announced on Instagram September 21, due to a stomach virus. "Despite every effort… I won’t get to be there. I won’t get to stand on that stage and thank every soul in the theatre for showing up for me, and against cancer, when I needed it most," he wrote.

The role of Dawson at the event will be played by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda. Says Van Der Beek: "Everyone please enjoy all the love in that room. Shine some on my family. I will be beaming and receiving from afar in a bed in Austin. And thank you @lin_manuel. You were a hero to my kids before… now you’re a demigod."

The evening is produced by Carl Ogawa, Jason Moore, Michelle Williams, Thomas Kail, Maggie Brohn, Kevin Williamson, and Greg Berlanti.
