Life of Pi is readying to tour the U.S., and full casting has been announced. Written by Lolita Chakrabarti from Yann Martel's novel, the work will embark on a multi-city tour beginning December 10 at Baltimore's Hippodrome Theatre.

Taha Mandviwala will lead the company as Pi, with the company also including Jessica Angleskhan, Alan Ariano, Pragun Bhardwaj, Ben Durocher, Emmanuel Elpenord, Shiloh Goodin, Anna Leigh Gortner, Austin Wong Harper, Rishi Jaiswal, Toussaint Jeanlouis, Mi Kang, Intae Kim, Sharayu Mahale, Sinclair Mitchell, Maya Rangulu, Betsy Rosen, Anna Vomáčka, Sorab Wadia, and Savidu Geevaratne. Casting is by Duncan Stewart and Patrick Maravilla of ARC Casting.

Life of Pi officially opened at Broadway's Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre March 30 after beginning previews March 9—read reviews here. The work follows a 16-year-old boy stranded in a lifeboat with a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger. Prior to the Broadway bow, the play won five 2022 Olivier Awards for a West End run, and made its North American premiere at American Repertory Theater at Harvard University.

The production was originally directed by Max Webster. The tour will be directed by Ashley Brooke Monroe, leading a creative team that consists of set and costume designer Tim Hatley, puppet and movement director Finn Caldwell (Angels in America), puppet designers Nick Barnes and Caldwell, video and animation designer Andrzej Goulding (Eureka Day), lighting designers Tim Lutkin and Tim Deiling, and sound designer Carolyn Downing (Les Liaisons Dangereuses). Hair and wig design is by David Brian Brown, original music is by Andrew T. Mackay, and dramaturgy is by Jack Bradley. Kelsey Tippins will lead the stage management team, which will also include Matthew Brooks and Fouad Hassan.

The work's West End production took home five 2022 Olivier Awards, including Best Play and Best Supporting Actor, with the latter awarded collectively to the team of puppeteers who play the tiger. The play made its North American premiere ahead of their Broadway bow at American Repertory Theater at Harvard University.

Simon Friend, Daryl Roth, Hal Luftig, Mark Gordon Pictures, and NETworks Presentations are producing the tour.
