News Laurie Metcalf and Chris Cooper Will Star in Broadway’s A Doll's House, Part 2 The starry cast will also feature Jayne Houdyshell and Condola Rashad.
Producer Scott Rudin announced October 7 that Lucas Hnath’s new play, A Doll’s House, Part 2, will begin previews at Broadway's John Golden Theatre, 252 W. 45th St., April 1, 2017.

Directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, the 16-week engagement will officially open April 27. The new play picks up after Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House concludes.

The starry cast will include three-time Emmy Award winner and three-time Tony Award nominee Laurie Metcalf, Academy Award winner Chris Cooper, Tony Award winner Jayne Houdyshell and two-time Tony Award nominee Condola Rashad.

“In the final scene of Ibsen's 1879 ground-breaking masterwork, Nora Helmer makes the shocking decision to leave her husband and children, and begin a life on her own,” according to press notes. “This climactic event — when Nora slams the door on everything in her life — instantly propelled world drama into the modern age. In A Doll’s House, Part 2, many years have passed since Nora’s exit. Now, there’s a knock on that same door. Nora has returned. But why? And what will it mean for those she left behind?”

The design team includes Evening Standard Award winner Miriam Buether (scenic design) and Tony Award winner David Zinn (costume design).

Hnath’s plays include Hillary and Clinton, Red Speedo, The Christians, A Public Reading of an Unproduced Screenplay About the Death of Walt Disney, Isaac’s Eye and Death Tax.

Ticket information has yet to be announced.
