SEATTLE -- Last Chance to catch Eve Ensler's 1997 Obie award winning play, The Vagina Monologues, at A Contemporary Theatre. The show is part of the company's Women In Theatre Series.
Actress/performer Eve Ensler started talking to women friends about their vaginas in 1993, and found they were happy to talk about them. "It's like death," says Ensler. "It's one of those areas that no one ever brings up." The stories came together to form The Vagina Monolgues. running at A.C.T.'s Bullitt Cabaret, Apr. 23 through Mother's Day, May 10.
The Women's series is Associate Artistic Director Leslie Swackhamer's last hurrah with the company before her resignation takes effect. Also, A.C.T.'s newly-created Women's Playwright's Festival will showcases six authors from across the country, whose works will be workshopped with some of Seattle's best actors and directors. Represented playwright's are Darrah Cloud, Kia Corthron, Migdalia Cruz, Joann Farias, Naomi Iizuka and Lizzie Olesker (Bullitt Cabaret, May 16-21).
