Lahti will step into the role of Terry (originated by Edie Falco), and Dillahunt will replace Broadway Side Man cast member Scott Wolf as Clifford. Both Wolf and Falco were previously announced to appear in the LATW run.
Also joining the cast will be original New York cast members Kevin Geer and Joseph Lyle Taylor, as well as cast newcomers Kyle Colerider-Krugh and Stephanie Zimbalist. Wood, who earned a Tony Award for his Broadway debut in the Warren Leight play, reprises his performance as Gene.
Stephen Sachs will direct the LATW run that is scheduled to play May 12-16 as part of "The Play's the Thing" series at the Skirball Cultural Center.
LATW describes the play as "a rich and moving tribute to a lost era of jazz and big bands, a time before the birth of rock 'n’ roll when jazz musicians were legends."
Michael Mayer directed the 1998 Off-Off-Broadway production of Side Man, which later transferred to Broadway and earned the Tony Award for Best Play. The play was also nominated for the Pulitzer Prize.
As with all LATW productions, the play will be recorded and broadcast on LATW's nationally syndicated radio theatre series, "The Play's the Thing."
