The 16th season of New York Theatre Barn's New Works Series, produced by Artistic Director Joe Barros and Managing Director Kate Trammell, will conclude October 16 at 7 PM ET at the Robert Moss Theatre at Playwrights Horizons Downtown.
The evening, which will also be streamed live with ASL interpreters and captioning accessibility, will feature excerpts from the new musicals LIGHTHOUSE and Absolute Zero, including a conversation with the writers moderated by Barros.
LIGHTHOUSE, with music by Veronica Mansour and a book and lyrics by Abs Wilson, explores the lives of six different women of different ages in rural communities struggling with anxiety and OCD. The pop-country musical will star Kerstin Anderson, Jane Bruce, Mylinda Hull, Morgan Reilly, Katie Thompson, and Darcie Hingula, with direction by Susanna Wolk and music direction by Davey Maglione.
Absolute Zero, a reclamation of the patriarchal and often sexist spy genre, has a book and lyrics by Dorie Clark and music by Marie Incontrera. The musical will be performed by a cast of all female and gender non-conforming artists, including Jen Anaya, LaDonna Burns, Zina Ellis, Cori Jasper, Mackenzie Meyh, and Jae W.B., with direction by Dev Bondarin.
