Joe’s Pub, the 190-seat supper club cabaret in Manhattan‘s Greenwich Village, will host these upcoming events of interest to theatre folk the week of April 6–12.
April 13: Where Was I? Actor Karen Ludwig (Broadway Bound, Manhattan, Citizen Cohn) tells the story of her career in theatre, TV, and film. 9:30 PM.
April 17: Daniel Kahn & The Painted Bird Writer-singer-activist Kahn and his “Yiddish Punk Cabaret” band The Painted Bird perform “passionate songs inspired in part by the struggles of Jewish revolutionaries at the turn of the century, and in part by his own intense desire for a better world.” 9:30 PM
April 17–18, 20–23, and 25–27: Intimo Soledad Barrio and the dance group Noche Flamenca perform “series of intimate theatrical vignettes expanding the boundaries of traditional flamenco. Pieces will include new solos from principal dancer Soledad Barrio and Carlos Menchaca, a spectacular young dancer who recently joined the company, and a new duet with Marina Elana and hip-hop/crump dancer Robert Wilson.” 7 and/or 9:30 PM on various days.
April 18: Justin Vivian Bond Shows Up for Resurrections and Deductions: Jesus Christ I Need A Break consists of the cabaret performer and Tony Award nominee (Kiki & Herb Alive on Broadway) ”stepping out of their liberal champagne bubble and venturing on a cultural fact-finding mission across America.” 9:30 PM

Named for the Public Theater’s founder Joe Papp, the cabaret space opened in 1998 inside the Public Theater building at 425 Lafayette Street, just downtown from Astor Place in Manhattan. The eclectic booking policy extends to plays, bands, monologists, and acts that don’t fall into traditional categories.
