News Junie B. Jones Begins Performances at Lucille Lortel Theatre Nov. 4 Preview performances of Junie B. Jones — the Marcy Heisler-Zina Goldrich family friendly musical — begin Nov. 4 at Off-Broadway's Lucille Lortel Theatre.

Presented by Theatreworks/NYC, the musical will officially open Nov. 9, and the limited engagement is set to play through Dec. 3. Based on Barbara Park's book series, Junie B. Jones features book and lyrics by Heisler and music by Goldrich. The cast comprises Russell Arden Koplin as Junie with Randy Aaron, Jill Abramovitz, Michael McCoy, Adam Overett and Yasmeen Sulieman. Peter Flynn directs.

The musical, according to production notes, tells the story of "the irrepressible Junie as she gets ready for the scary world of first grade, complete with new friends, new teacher and new glasses." The production is recommended for children age five and older.

The Junie creative team includes Devanand Janki (choreography), Luke Hegel-Cantarella (scenic design), Jeff Croiter (lighting design), Lora LaVon (costume design), Jesse Vargas (orchestrations) and Kimberly Grigsby (musical direction).

Select matinees of the musical will allow kids to go free when accompanying adults pay only $15. These 10:30 AM shows are scheduled for Nov. 4, 16, 17, 21, 22, 29 and 30 and Dec. 1. (When calling for these shows, mention the code MOMA).
