Broadway alums Julianne Hough and Utkarsh Ambudkar will co-host this year's The Tony Awards: Act One, the pre-show to Broadway's biggest night. The event will stream free on Pluto TV June 16 beginning at 6:30 PM ET, ahead of The 77th Annual Tony Awards' live broadcast on CBS.
The stream, which typically includes several performances and the presentation of some award categories, will be available on Pluto TV's ET channel. Pluto does not require users to create an account to stream. Both The Tony Awards: Act One and The 77th Annual Tony Awards will broadcast live from the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center.
The news gives audiences two three-time consecutive Tony hosts. Hough has hosted the Act One pre-show since 2022, and Ariana DeBose, who's hosting the CBS broadcast, is also back for her third year in a row.
Hough made her Broadway debut in 2022's POTUS, and has appeared in screen version of Grease and Rock of Ages. Ambudkar, best known for starring in CBS' Ghosts, made his Broadway debut as part of the 2019 company of Freestyle Love Supreme, and made special appearances in the hip hop improv show's 2021 encore run as well.
Nominations for the 2024 Tony Awards were revealed April 30, with Hell's Kitchen and Stereophonic taking the mantle as the most Tony-nominated productions of the seasons with 13 nods each. See the full list of nominations here.
Following The Tony Awards: Act One, The 77th Annual Tony Awards will air live nationally on CBS beginning at 8 PM ET (check local listings) and stream live (for premium-level subscribers) via Paramount+. All Paramount+ subscribers will have on demand access to the broadcast beginning June 17.
