Talia Suskauer (Wicked) will lead an industry reading of A Hanukkah Carol, or GELT TRIP! The Musical, which puts a kosher spin on Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol.
Suskauer will be joined by two time Tony winner Judy Kaye, Ephie Aardema (Funny Girl), Gilbert L. Bailey II (Beetlejuice, A Bronx Tale), Joy Hermalyn (Caroline, or Change), and Josh Lamon (The Prom, Groundhog Day), along with violinist Lauren Jeanne Thomas (Fiddler in Fiddler on the Roof in Yiddish).
A Hanukkah Carol features music by Rob Berliner and Aaron Kenny, and a book by Berliner and Harrison Bryan. Marlo Hunter will direct the December 6 reading, and Alex Goldie Golden will music direct. The reading is cast by Robin Carus.
The musical reimagines Scrooge as a narcissistic influencer who struggles to value her family during the holiday season. The reading was fully crowd funded earlier this year.
