Joy Woods (Little Shop of Horrors), Victor de Paula Rocha (The Sound of Music), and Darron Hayes (Kimberly Akimbo) are the final additions to the cast of Classic Stage Company's upcoming revival of I Can Get It for You Wholesale.
CSC's 2023-2024 season—the first programmed by new Producing Artistic Director Jill Rafson—will launch in the fall with the upcoming revival, which begins previews October 10 prior to an official opening October 30. Directed by Trip Cullman (Choir Boy), the limited engagement will continue through December 3.
Woods and de Paula Rocha join the cast in the roles of Martha Mills and Sheldon/Young Harry, respectively, while Hayes will be featured in the ensemble.
As previously reported, the cast will be led by Tony winner Santino Fontana (Tootsie) as Harry Bogen and Tony nominee Judy Kuhn (Fun Home, Chess) as Mrs. Bogen with 2023 Into the Woods Tony nominee Julia Lester as Miss Marmelstein (the part famously created by Barbra Streisand), Adam Chanler-Berat (CSC’s Assassins) as Meyer Bushkin, Eddie Cooper (CSC’s Assassins) as Tootsie Maltz/Ensemble, Adam Grupper (Pictures From Home) as Maurice Pulvermacher, Greg Hildreth (Company) as Teddy Asch, Rebecca Naomi Jones (Oklahoma!) as Ruthie Rivkin, Ryah Nixon (Kinky Boots) as Ensemble, and Sarah Steele (The Humans) as Blanche Bushkin.
Featuring a book by Jerome Weidman, based on his novel, and music and lyrics by Harold Rome, the upcoming production will feature a revised libretto by Weidman’s son, John Weidman (Pacific Overtures, Assassins). I Can Get It for You Wholesale is set in 1937 in New York City's Garment District and follows Bronx-born shipping clerk Harry Bogen (Fontana), who must choose between the comfort of community and his own ambitious dreams.
The CSC production will also have scenic design by Mark Wendland, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Adam Honoré, sound design by Sun Hee Kil, choreography by Ellenore Scott, a score arranged and adapted by David Chase, and music direction and orchestrations by Jacinth Greywoode.
