New York Theatre Barn will host a reading of Josephine Phoenix's Between Coconuts and Concrete at Chain Theatre in NYC January 23. The reading is being given in association with David Zayas Jr. of ZProductions, with Joe Barros at the helm.
The solo work, written and performed by Phoenix, explores the performer's life growing up in Miami and New York in the '80s and '90s.
Phoenix is the child of a Cuban Las Vegas showgirl and a Spanish-Lebanese flamenco guitarist; her formative years included fame and fortune, drug pushing and abuse, and more.
