Selections from Blake Allen and Will Nunziata's new opera The Waves will be presented next month in NYC. Two performances will be held February 2, at 2 PM and 5 PM at Open Jar Studios in Manhattan.

The opera, with a score by Allen and libretto by Nunziata, is based on Virginia Woolf's experimental 1931 novel of the same name, which comprises a series of soliloquies given by six friends, narrating their lives and relationships from childhood to middle age.

The presentation will feature Morgan Paige as Jinny, Katharine Burns as Susan, Kyla Bolling as Rhoda, Drew Fillinger as Neville, Henry Thrasher as Bernard, and Christopher Teft as Louis. The ensemble will include Jamie Louise Lockhart, Maggie Solimine, Dani Apple, Joseph Townsend, Nick Barakos, and Tate McElhaney.

Nunziata will direct the presentation, with Allen serving as musical director. Talene Pogharian is stage manager, and Cathleen Healy and Mia Moravis are producers.

Will Nunziata is a writer and director who directed White Rose: The Musical Off-Broadway. Blake Allen is a violist and composer whose works include the musical the shards of an honor code junkie, which premiered in 2017 starring Alison Fraser and Teal Wicks; and Insomnia, based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's short story Sleeping and Waking.
