Neil LaBute's Comfort will get a new staging at New Jersey Repertory Company, part of its 28th season. To be directed by Evan Bergman, performances will run April 17–May 11, with an official opening April 19.
Comfort follows the complicated relationship between a mother and son as they battle over ownership of a treasured manuscript. The cast will feature Jordan Baker (Dana H., The Post, Three Tall Women) and Rudy Galvan (His Three Daughters). The work made its world premiere in 2021 at Missouri's St. Louis Actors' Studio.
“We are beyond thrilled to welcome Neil LaBute’s Comfort to NJ Rep as part of our 28th season," Artistic Director SuzAnne Barabas said in a statement. "LaBute’s fearless storytelling and razor-sharp dialogue make for an electrifying theatrical experience, and we are honored to present his latest work.”
The production will feature set design by Jessica Parks, lighting design by Jill Nagle, technical direction by Brian Snyder, costume design by Patricia E. Doherty, and sound design by Nick Simone. Rose Riccardi will serve as production stage manager.
