John Leguizamo's Freak will premiere on HBO Oct. 10 at 10 PM. Spike Lee (He Got Game, Malcolm X ) directed the one-man comic show for HBO.
Freak follows the path of two other John Leguizamo pieces, Mambo Mouth and Spic-o-rama, both of which were filmed for HBO. The show began filming in late-June, according to sources, inside the Cort Theatre where Lee taped two live performances.
Freak will be re-broadcast throughout the month of October: on the 15th at 1 AM EST; the 20th at 9:45 PM; the 26th at 2:20 AM; and the 28th at 11:30 PM.
Freak, subtitled "A Semi-Demi-Quasi-Pseudo Autobiography (His Most Dangerous Work Yet)," began previews at the Cort Theatre Jan. 20 and opened Feb. 12. It was originally scheduled to run only 70 performances, but was eventually extended to July 5.
