The world premiere of new Broadway-aimed musical Shucked has revealed full casting for its run at Pioneer Theatre Company. The show, with a book by Tony winner Robert Horn and a score by Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, is set to play the Salt Lake City, Utah theatre October 28–November 12 with three-time Tony winner Jack O'Brien at the helm.
Details are scarce about the new comedy's plot, though press notes describe the show as "the new musical comedy that proves sometimes tearing down a few walls, rather than growing them, is the only way to preserve our way of life."
The cast will include John Behlmann (Tootsie, Significant Other) as Gordy, Kevin Cahoon (GLOW, Monarch) as Peanut, Andrew Durand (Head Over Heels, War Horse) as Beau, Caroline Innerbichler (Frozen) as Maizy, Ashley D. Kelley (Luke Cage, Insatiable) as Storyteller 1, Alex Newell (Glee, Once on This Island) as Lulu, and Taylor Trensch (Dear Evan Hansen, Hello, Dolly!) as Storyteller 2.
Rounding out the company in the ensemble are Miki Abraham, Dwayne Clark, Rheaume Crenshaw, Kaitlyn Davidson, Jaygee Macapugay, Scott Stangland, Esteban Suero, Yasmeen Sulieman, Quinn VanAntwerp, and Alan Wiggins.
Joining O'Brien on the creative team are choreographer Sarah O'Gleby, music supervisor Jason Howland, scenic designer Scott Pask, costume designer Tilly Grimes, lighting designer Japhy Weideman, sound designer John Shivers, music director and conductor Daniel Edmonds, and hair and wig designer Mia Neal.
