Two-time Memphis Tony winner Joe DiPietro will write the book for a new jukebox musical about the life of songwriter Diane Warren.

Entitled Obsessed, The Story of Diane Warren...so far, the developing musical will be directed by Olivier winner and three-time Tony winner Kathleen Marshall (Wonderful Town, The Pajama Game, Anything Goes). Irit TenHengel produces.

Obsessed will seek to answer the question, “How could the woman who wrote some of the world's most famous love songs have never been in love?” A workshop presentation will be held later this month in New York.

The musical will include such Warren hits as “Rhythm of the Night,” “Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now,“If I Could Turn Back Time,” “Unbreak My Heart,” “Because You Loved Me,” and “I Don't Want to Miss a Thing.” The show will also include new songs written by Warren.

Warren has penned nine No. 1 and 32 top-10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 and is tied for having written the most No. 1 songs as a sole writer in Billboard history. Her songs have been featured in more than 100 motion pictures.

“Broadway is a new chapter for me, and to work with such amazing artists like Kathleen Marshall and Joe DiPietro makes me excited to see where this will lead,” says Warren.

Tony winners DiPietro and Marshall were also recently announced for another jukebox musical, one based on the life and career of the late Frank Sinatra.
