News Joan Collins Carries on in Moon After Accident

Joan Collins is carrying on in her swashbuckling role in Over the Moon (fka Moon Over Buffalo) at the Old Vic, despite spraining her thumb while waving a sword about.

Her appearance in a customised fencing outfit sparked more newspaper coverage last week than many small wars, and it was while performing in her eye-catching ensemble - which one wit claimed gives a whole new meaning to “basque separatism” - that Miss Collins damaged her hand.

The injury is particularly symbolic as Miss Collins has come in for some fairly unkind comments by theatre critics - comments based on her age and public persona as much as her performance in Over the Moon.
