The six-time Tony-winning producer has been on the Off-Broadway company's board for 20 years.

Tony-winning producer Jim Kierstead has been named president of the board of directors at Off-Broadway's York Theatre Company. Kierstead, taking on the role after two decades on the board, will succeed Joan Ross Sorkin.

“After being on the Board of The York Theatre Company for the past 20 years, it's a privilege and an honor to become President," says Kierstead in a statement. "I feel as though I'm in a unique position to take on this role given my years with the company, and I'm excited to work even closer with the York family to continue bringing musicals to life.”

“How wonderful to have my great friend as our new Board President; replacing Joan Ross Sorkin would be a daunting task if we didn’t have Jim!," says York Producing Artistic Director James Morgan in a statement. "Joan’s dedication to the company for the last eight years has helped us thrive. I know that David McCoy, our longtime Board Chairman, joins me in thanking Joan, and we see a great future ahead for The York.”

The Off-Broadway company's board comprises Chairman McCoy, now-President Kierstead, Vice President Riki Kane Larimer, Secretary Molly Pickering Grose, and Treasurer Gerald F. Fisher, along with Bernard Carragher, Timothy F. Collins, Alan Govenar, Laurence Holzman, Katherine Huang, Joan T. Mischo, Morgan, Charlotte Rosenblatt, Sorkin, Debra Walton, and Claudia Zahn.

Kierstead is currently represented on Broadway as a producer of The Hills of CaliforniaRomeo + JulietGypsy, and Cabaret.
