Two kings of New York City nightlife are joining forces for another Florida edition of Jim Caruso's Cast Party, described as “an extreme open mic” variety show, April 12 at the Crest Theatre in Delray Beach, Florida.

The 8 PM showcase for local Florida talent will be hosted by six-time MAC Award-winning performer Jim Caruso, with Grammy-winning singer-composer-pianist Billy Stritch at the piano.

Caruso, who has hosted his weekly Jim Caruso's Cast Party Mondays at Birdland nightclub in Manhattan for the past 15 years, will bring the combination jazz concert and open mic night south to Delray Beach for the fifth time. His most recent concert there in March showcased the talents of 17 local Florida performers, from 14-year-old Ava Faith, who belted a swinging “Please Don’t Talk About Me When I’m Gone,” to Broadway veteran Avery Sommers, who stopped the show with Marvin Hamlisch’s “The Way We Were.”

Caruso and Stritch appeared together on Broadway in the 2008 concert show Liza’s at the Palace.... Caruso said, “Billy and I have been thrilled at the turnout of extraordinary musical talent that has taken part in these magical nights. The level of talent has been off the charts.” Stritch is currently on the road as musical director and accompanist for singer Tony Bennett. Caruso and Stritch recently concluded a series of concerts in the Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel in New York.

Interested open mic participants can learn more about the event and sign up to secure a spot by emailing the host at caruso212@aol.com.

Over the years, Jim Caruso’s Cast Party audiences in New York and on the road have seen the likes of Liza Minnelli, Natalie Cole, Martin Short, Carol Channing, Hugh Jackman, Donny Osmond, Chita Rivera, Michael Feinstein, Shirley Bassey, Jon Bon Jovi, Tony Bennett, Paul Shaffer, Ricki Lake, Melissa Manchester, Larry Gatlin, and Dame Edna Everage.

The Crest Theatre is located at Old School Square, 51 North Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach, Florida. For information, call (561) 243-7922.
