Initial casting has been announced for Paper Mill Playhouse's upcoming world premiere of the new musical The Great Gatsby, based on the F. Scott Fitzgerald novel of the same name.

Directed by Marc Bruni (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), performances are scheduled for October 12-November 12 at the New Jersey venue. Opening night is October 22.

The cast will be led by Newsies Tony nominee Jeremy Jordan, who returns to Off-Broadway's Little Shop of Horrors July 25, as millionaire Jay Gatsby, and two-time Tony nominee Eva Noblezada (Hadestown, Miss Saigon) as socialite Daisy Buchanan. Additional casting is to be announced.

The Great Gatsby, which features a book by Kait Kerrigan (The Mad Ones) and an original score by Tony nominees Jason Howland and Nathan Tysen (Paradise Square), is set in the Roaring '20s and follows eccentric millionaire Jay Gatsby (Jordan), who will stop at nothing in his tragic pursuit of Daisy Buchanan (Noblezada), a wealthy young woman whom he loved in his youth.

The upcoming production will also have choreography by Dominique Kelley, music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Howland, and musical direction by Daniel Edmonds (Shucked, Paradise Square).

“The jazz era setting of The Great Gatsby presents such a natural opportunity for music,” says Paper Mill Producing Artistic Director Mark S. Hoebee. “But this team has also found ways to musicalize the characters’ deep, rich hopes and dreams with such surprising and dramatic subtlety. We cannot wait to welcome Paper Mill audiences to this thrilling world premiere of The Great Gatsby.”

The Great Gatsby is produced by special arrangement with Chunsoo Shin, award-winning Korean theatre producer and OD Company president.

A separate, immersive production of The Great Gatsby is currently playing Off-Broadway, while another musical version (by Florence Welch, Thomas Bartlett, and Martyna Majok) will debut in 2024.

Tickets may be purchased now as part of a Paper Mill Playhouse subscription package, and single tickets will go on sale August 14. Visit PaperMill.org.
