The Guggenheim Museum has announced the lineup for the fall 2024 Works & Process series, which will include a sneak peak of Jeanine Tesori's newest opera Grounded, ahead of the opera's Met premiere when it opens the 2024-25 season. Met General Manager Peter Gelb will moderate the September 9 discussion with the creative team, and members of the cast will perform selections from the opera, based on the play of the same name by George Brant, who also penned the opera's libretto. Grounded concerns a fighter pilot who is grounded due to an unexpected pregnancy, and subsequently reassigned to piloting lethal drones remotely.

Another opera discussion one week later September 15 will concern Missy Mazzoli and Royce Vavrek's The Listeners, before its American premiere at Opera Philadelphia, directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz. Members of the creative team will discuss their work, and members of the cast will perform excerpts from the opera about a mysterious “hum” that only a few people, known as the Listeners, can hear.

Helen Pickett's ballet adaptation of Crime and Punishment, which was recently announced to be having its world premiere as part of American Ballet Theatre's fall season, will also be the subject of a discussion September 22. ABT Artistic Director Susan Jaffe will moderate the discussion with members of the creative team, and excerpts will be performed from the ballet, which features music by Isobel Waller-Bridge, sets and costumes by Soutra Gilmour, lighting by Jennifer Tipton, and video design by Tal Yarden.

On October 6, three choreographers with New York City Ballet will discuss their work with the company. NYCB Principal Dancer Tiler Peck will discuss her ballet Concerto for Two Pianos, her first NYCB commission, which had its much-lauded premiere in the Winter 2024 season. Gianna Reisen will discuss her ballet Signs, created in 2022 for the School of American Ballet, and Caili Quan will discuss her first work for NYCB. All three works, from which excerpts will be performed, will be performed at NYCB's fall gala October 9.

Isaac Mizrahi's beloved production of Peter and the Wolf, which Works & Process has produced since 2007, will return to the Guggenheim December 6, 7, and 8, with Mizrahi once again narrating Prokofiev's symphonic tale for children. Mizrahi has also created a new work, Third Bird, with composer Nico Muhly, in homage to the Prokofiev classic. Both Peter and the Wolf and Third Bird will feature Dance Heginbotham and Carnegie Hall’s Ensemble Connect, with Michael P. Atkinson conducting.

The fall season will also feature Ladies of Hip-Hop, the Martha Graham Dance Company, NYCity Tango Collective, and more, with events at the Guggenheim Museum, Manhattan West, and the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts. For the complete season lineup, and ticketing information, visit WorksAndProcess.org.
