The Broadway community has truly found a home on Peacock's musical series Girls5Eva. Led by stage favorites Sara Bareilles and Renée Elise Goldsberry, the show's forthcoming second season will see guest appearances from Tony winner James Monroe Iglehart and Grey Hansen, according to Variety.
The series follows a one-hit-wonder girl group that gets an unexpected chance at a comeback. Joining Bareilles and Goldsberry as the singing leads are TV actors Busy Phillips and Paula Pell. The show's second season will premiere May 5.
Iglehart is best known for starring in the original Broadway cast of Aladdin as the Genie and taking over the dual roles of Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson in Lin-Manuel Miranda's Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
His on-screen credits including playing Carl in Netflix's Maniac, opposite Jonah Hill and Emma Stone, and playing Charles in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He is expected to make an appearance in the upcoming sequel to the movie musical Enchanted.
Tony nominee Hansen's theatre credits including starring in the two Casey Nicholaw-led musicals The Book of Mormon and Mean Girls, originating the role of Damian in the latter.
The first season of Girls5Eva welcomed appearances from Broadway's Tony nominee Ashley Park, Erika Henningsen, Daniel Breaker, and Tony nominee Andrew Rannells. It premiered to high critical approval and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award, a Critics' Choice Television Award, and three Hollywood Critics Association TV Awards.
