Inspired by Real Ads, Craigslist Musical to Debut Off-Broadway | Playbill

News Inspired by Real Ads, Craigslist Musical to Debut Off-Broadway The award-winning Canadian show will make its New York debut next month.

Missed Connections: A Craigslist Musical, based on real ads posted on Craigslist, is set to make its U.S. debut at the New Ohio Theatre Off-Broadway in September.

The award-winning Canadian show is written by Bill Richardson, Veda Hille and Amiel Gladstone, with music by Hille and direction by Phillip George. The show also features choreography by Amy Garner Hall.

Performances are set to begin September 10 with an opening night slated for September 15.

“A few years ago, with not much more than fun in mind, we hauled some Craigslist ads free of their moorings. Veda Hille set them to music. With Amiel Gladstone, she put together a cast of Vancouver singing actors and performed the show as a 20-minute musical,” comments Richardson in a statement. “It was meant to end there. What we didn’t count on was that, even in that hurried first go-around, we would find the evidence of so much tenderness, folly, and longing. There was more there than we suspected or knew. It was funny, but it was compelling. So, we kept on working, adding, subtracting, rearranging, as one does.”

The cast of the Off-Broadway production is made up of Jane Bruce, Brandon Ellis, Morgan Siobhan Green, Jamie Pittle, Shawn Platzker and Debbie Tjong.

The creative team includes Solomon Weisbard (lighting designer), Grier Coleman (costume designer), Josh Iacavelli (set designer), Jeanne Wu (sound designer), Aaron Jodoin (musical supervisor), Patrick Sulken (associate musical supervisor), Brian Rardin (production stage manager), Miriam Salzman (assistant stage manager), Jason Styres, CSA (casting) and Perry Street Theatricals (general management). BeeBar LLC produces.

The New Ohio Theatre is located at 154 Christopher Street, New York. Tickets can be purchased by visiting MissedConnectionsMusical.com or by calling (866) 811-4111.
