Let them be your stars—again! NBC's Smash, the infamous Broadway-themed series that had a two-season run 2012–2013, is now streaming on Peacock.

The move will let Broadway fans re-visit or, dare we say, get caught up on the series ahead of its upcoming Broadway adaptation. Don't worry, you've got plenty of time to binge—the Broadway bow isn't expected until spring 2025. The stage musical held a six-week workshop in NYC earlier this year and an industry reading in 2023. So far, plot and character details are intentionally being kept under wraps, though some deets did emerge following a hot ticket public presentation.

The TV series follows writers Julia and Tom, loosely modeled on Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, creating a fictitious musical about screen icon Marilyn Monroe, with the first season following the fight for the lead between newcomer Karen Cartwright and seasoned chorus girl Ivy Lynn. The second season adds a rival show to the mix, an edgier show with downtown cred called Hit List. As for the further twists and turns, you'll just have to watch to find out.

The show featured starry cast boasting several stage favorites, including Christian Borle, Jaime Cepero, Will Chase, Jack Davenport, Megan Hilty, Jennifer Hudson, Anjelica Huston, Raza Jaffrey, Brian d'Arcy James, Jeremy Jordan, Katharine McPhee, Debra Messing, Andy Mientus, Leslie Odom Jr., Krysta Rodriguez, and Uma Thurman.

Theresa Rebeck created the series and served as executive producer alongside Steven Spielberg, Joshua Safran, Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, and Jim Chory. Shaiman and Wittman composed the songs for the fictional Marilyn Monroe musical Bombshell, while the second season added Drew Gasparini, Joe Iconis, and Benj Pasek and Justin Paul to the roster for the songs of Hit List.

The plot of the upcoming musical reportedly differs from the TV series, though it will still track the development of a fictional Marilyn Monroe bio-musical. The book is being written by Bob Martin (The Prom) and Rick Elice (Jersey Boys), with Susan Stroman directing. Joshua Bergasse will choreograph after winning an Emmy for his work on the original series.
