On December 10, at Barcelona’s Teatre Victoria, Antonio Díaz, the acclaimed illusionist who is the highest-grossing entertainer in Spain, announced that he will embark on his first global stadium tour.

The forthcoming tour will kick off at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, home of Real Madrid, and will include stops in Miami, Florida; the United Kingdom; and more to be announced.

Díaz spoke with Playbill Director of Social Media Jeffrey Vizcaíno about his many upcoming projects, including a possible collaboration with Tony-winning composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. "I've been in London with him, and I felt so honored to be with probably the biggest person in theatrical history," Díaz said. "It was amazing. He came to my theatre to see my magic… I will never forget it. After that, they told me he would like to collaborate. That means a lot to me. I don't know what's going to happen, but I'm so, so grateful. And I'll do my best if it's possible to work with him."

Díaz is also excited to bring his illusions around the world, explaining that "magic has something that connects everybody." About his record-breaking Broadway show, El Mago Pop, he added, "I am really grateful for everybody who came. That was amazing—the energy in the theatre every night!"

The Barcelona event included appearances and remarks from Oscar winner Helen Hunt, Emmy winner Aaron Paul, Oscar winner Mira Sorvino, Billy Zane, David Henrie, Michelle Rodriguez, President of Catalunya Salvador Illa, Mayor of Barcelona Jaume Collboni, Amaia, Jon Kortajarena, Alex Gonzalez, and Paz Vega as well as video remarks from Andrew Lloyd Webber, Christopher Lloyd, and more.

El Mago Pop has contributed over $1 billion euros to the economies of Barcelona and Madrid in the last five years.
