News Host Named for 2016 Golden Globe Awards Ricky Gervais ("The Office") will host the 2016 Golden Globe Awards. Gervais, who often sparked controversy with his comedic zingers, will host the ceremony for the fourth time, his first since 2012.

The 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will be broadcast live on NBC beginning at 8 PM ET, will be held Jan. 10, 2016, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Gervais hosted the Golden Globes from 2010-12. Comedians Amy Poehler and Tina Fey took over in 2013.

Paul Teledgy, president of alternative and late-night at NBC, said in a statement, "Tina and Amy are a hard act to follow but Ricky is completely fearless and entirely up for the job. He always did us proud. Welcome back, Ricky."

Gervais tweeted a picture of himself with the caption: "Can't wait to host The Golden Globes again. My only guarantee is that not everyone will enjoy it as much as me."

Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment, said in a statement, "Disarming and surprising, Ricky is ready to honor — and send up — the best work of the year in film and television. Fasten your seat belts."
