Playbill has learned that 21-time Tony-winning director and producer Harold Prince currently has two original musicals in development.
For the first, Prince reunites with longtime collaborator and book writer Alfred Uhry (Parade) and composer-lyricist Craig Carnelia (Sweet Smell of Success). The musical is based on the famous affair between financier Diamond Jim Brady (known for his gluttonous eating habits) and actor and singer Lillian Russell.

The second work comes from young composers Jacob Yandura and Rebekah Greer Melocik and playwright Bess Wohl (Small Mouth Sounds). Based on Alexandra Shiva's Peabody Award-winning documentary How To Dance in Ohio, the story follows three teenage girls with autism as they plan to attend their prom in Columbus. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2015.
Both projects are early in development; further details, including production timelines, have not yet been announced.
Prince's career was recently celebrated on the New York stage in the retrospective Prince of Broadway.
