Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller is the subject of a new mini-documentary that will be presented as part of the “Future of StoryTelling” summit October 5 and 6 in New York City. Seller is a speaker at the summit and the short film will be used as his introduction.
Titled Jeffrey Seller—Setting the Stage: The Power of Live Art, the mini-documentary follows Seller backstage at Hamilton as he shares his feelings on the power of live theatre, what inspires him creatively and how digital technology still falls short when it comes to the shared experience of live storytelling.
The two-day, invitation only gathering includes “hands-on creative and instructional workshops, one-of-a-kind immersive experiences, live performances, and the Story Arcade and VR Space, interactive exhibits that feature the latest and greatest in interactive and immersive storytelling projects and technologies.”
This year will also mark the debut of FoST FEST—the world’s first immersive storytelling festival. FoST FEST will be open to the pubic and run immediately after the Summit from October 7-9. There will be an exhibit space of 15,000 square feet for people to experience the technologies, and FoST FEST is partnering with NYC-based organizations across the five boroughs to host dozens of satellite events that will showcase the best in city-wide storytelling from participatory theater performances, live action role-playing games, interactive art installations, and more. Featured will be The Skin Deep’s {{ (_variables.THE ?? object.THE) AND|raw }} at the Brooklyn Academy of Music; The Blind Spot’s Hall Pass; the Broadway premiere of Complicite’s The Encounter starring Simon McBurney; Punchdrunk’s Sleep No More; Third Rail Projects’ Then She Fell and The Grand Paradise; and Madame Tussauds/The VOID’s Ghostbusters: Dimension.
