Created by The Irish Tenors producer Bill Hughes, the concert was recorded live in Prague Feb. 8. "Hallelujah Broadway" features inspiring and uplifting songs from the musical theatre canon. Tony Gregory directs the concert that has musical direction by Gavin Murphy.
In addition to Eder, who performs such songs as "Someone Like You," "Electricity" and "Gold," the concert also features performances by Rodrick Dixon, Alfreda Burke and Anthony Kearns.
New York area PBS stations have not committed to airing the 58-minute television special at this time. A DVD and CD of "Hallelujah Broadway" (which offers an expanded 77-minute version of the concert) will be released Sept. 14.
Additional songs included in the evening are "Prepare Ye," "Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin'," "I'll Be Seeing You," "Somewhere," "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "Seasons of Love," "What I Did for Love," "Bring Him Home," "Anthem," "Sunday," "You'll Never Walk Alone," and medleys from Godspell and Jesus Christ Superstar. The title song, "Hallelujah Broadway," was specially commissioned for the concert.
