A release date has been set for an upcoming movie musical from director Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) and producer-music maker Pharrell Williams, now titled Atlantis. The film will hit movie theatres May 9, 2025, via Universal Pictures, per a report in Variety.

The project, first revealed in March, is reportedly a coming-of-age story set in 1977 Virgina Beach, where Williams grew up, but plot details are otherwise scarce. The script is written by Tony winner Steven Levenson and Martin Hynes. Songs for the project are by both Williams and Tony-winning Broadway duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen).

It had previously been revealed that the film would feature performances from Broadway vets Brian Tyree Henry (Lobby Hero) and Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Ghost) as well as Halle Bailey (The Little Mermaid) and Kelvin Harrison, Jr. Now, Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Anderson .Paak (Grown-ish), Janelle Monáe (Moonlight), Tim Meadows (SNL), Jayson Lee (61st Street), Jamilah Rosemond (Rustin), Jaboukie Young-White (Fantasmas) and recording artist Missy Elliott have been added to that list.

Mimi Valdés is producing with Williams through i am OTHER, alongside Gil Netter for Gil Netter Productions. Matthew Hirsch, Raffi Adlan, Jennie Lee, Shani Saxon, Tony-winning Broadway director Michael Mayer, and Pasek and Paul are executive producers.
