Nikki Blonsky—the Golden Globe-nominated star of the 2007 film adaptation of Hairspray, will appear in Stuffed Off-Broadway this fall. The comedy, written by and starring Lisa Lampanelli, will begin performances October 5 at the Westide Theatre’s downstairs space. Opening night is set for October 19.
Stuffed marks Blonsky’s return to the Westside Theatre after making her Off-Broadway debut in Love, Loss, and What I Wore in 2011. In addition to Hairspray, Blonsky has appeared in Smash, Geography Club, The English Teacher, Huge, Valemont, and Queen Sized, as well as the upcoming film Dog Years.
Directed by Jackson Gay, Stuffed follows a lifelong dieter, a woman with bulimia, an overweight girl comfortable with her size, and a woman who is a permanent size-zero. The play explores the four’s relationships with food through Lampanelli’s signature irreverent lens.
Gay also helmed the play’s New York premiere last year at WP Theater (formerly Women’s Project Theater).
