In September, Phyllis Sodine wrote a letter postmarked to the Imperial Theatre, where the Broadway revival of Les Misérables plays, to ask if her granddaughter, Madison, could meet her favorite character after the Oct. 11 performance.
The production company at Les Miz immediately responded, and the two were granted access to the backstage area to take a picture with Earl Carpenter, who stars as Javert.
Read the note below:
Dear Javert:
My granddaughter who is going on 7 has seen Les Misérables many times in both the theatre and movies. She is obsessed with the character Javert. Every Friday night is movie night at her home and for months on end it was the same, Les Misérables. She only stays awake until Javert's suicide scene and feels it necessary to explain to everyone that he is a good guy and was just doing his job. Last year on Halloween she only wanted to be Javert. I tried to explain that many people would not know who she was but that didn't matter to her.
For her upcoming birthday I'm taking her to the October 11th performance at 1:30. It would be so special if she could meet the actor portraying Javert. If this is at all possible I know it would be a memory she would treasure forever.
Sincerely,
Phyllis Sodine
