The awards honor excellence in Chicago theatres not under a union contract, for productions that opened between April 1, 2009, and March 31, 2010.
Among the nominees is Profiles Theatre's production of Ellen Fairey's Graceland. Lincoln Center Theater plucked up the script and recently produced a separate Off-Broadway production in its LCT3 program.
Lifeline's new adaptations were honored: Treasure Island earned six, Busman's Honeymoon earned five and Mrs. Caliban took three.
Other new works recognized include The House Theatre of Chicago's Wilson Wants It All with six nominations, and Quest Theatre Ensemble's Evolution/Creation with five nominations.
